Sculptural Sterling Silver and Cabochon Amethyst Choker Necklace
This striking vintage Mexican necklace is a sculptural masterpiece. Each curving, flame-like sterling silver link is paired with a rich cabochon cut amethyst, giving the piece both movement and depth. The flowing design feels bold and organic, reminiscent of the celebrated Taxco silversmiths of the mid-20th century. The back is stamped with markings that appear to read "TALING 11C D 5X1100"—likely a boutique or lesser-known artisan’s signature.
Though the maker remains a mystery, the craftsmanship speaks for itself: fluid articulation, and a strong presence when worn. The C clasp allows the dramatic shapes and stones to take center stage. This necklace is perfect for collectors of vintage Mexican silver or anyone who appreciates unique, handwrought jewelry with artistic flair. While the maker’s identity isn’t verified, the design and construction are highly consistent with Taxco silverwork from the 1940s–1970s, particularly the modernist era influenced by Margot de Taxco, Antonio Pineda, and Los Castillo.
The choker is accented by 5 round cabochon cut, bezel set amethyst. The amethyst measure an AVERAGE of approximately 12.40mm in diameter each. The amethyst are considered to be dark purple in hue and highly included.
