"Red garnets have been mined in the Bohemian Hills of Czechoslovakia since the 16th century. These pyrope garnets reached their height of popularity in jewelry of the Victorian era.  Although the deposits had been generally regarded as depleted, today a small mining operation is working on garnetiferous gravels northwest of Prague." This garnet pendant itself measures a smidge over 1-1/2 inches in length--with the top it measures a total of approximately a smidge under 2 inches.  The metal is a gold tone.
