Yellow gold carved coral pin.  The leaves and the braiding tested 18 karat while the "under-carriage" of the pin tested 14 karat.  Additionally through the years, perhaps through repairs, soft solder was used thereby creating areas on the back side of the pin that are mis-colored.  The pin measures approximately 1-1/4 inches in diameter and is decorated with a carved coral rose.  (the coral rose has a natural blemish on the side of one petal...see photo).  Accenting the rose are textured leaves and a beautiful "braided" surrounding.  Securing the pin is a "C" safety clasp.  Circa:  Late 1800's to early 1900's



Dorothy Gallun founded Dorothy Gallun Jewelry in Wisconsin in 1950.  At 96 years of age she still comes to the store every day.  Patty Gallun Hansen, Dorothy's daughter is now in business with her mother.
