Goldsmithing is a trade that needs more talent: we are looking to students to fill the gap.

Updated: Jun 27

The “Facets Jewelry Design Competition,” now in its third edition. This initiative remains committed to nurturing the artistic talents of our students while simultaneously giving back to the community that means so much to all of us. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to continue to foster a deep love for the art of jewelry design and the jewelry industry.

It is important to note that the jewelry industry offers a range of creative professions, including the valuable role of goldsmiths.

Through this competition, we hope to not only ignite their artistic passions but also introduce them to the world of goldsmithing, which might otherwise remain an undiscovered career path.

The essence of the contest remains unchanged: To create a piece of jewelry that is abstract in design. Each participating student will receive a laboratory-grown diamond to weave into their designs, allowing their creativity to sparkle as brilliantly as the gemstones they’ll be working with. I am thrilled to share that Port Washington State Bank is sponsoring this edition of the competition and will not only award the victorious designer a prize of $500 but sponsor the "Meet the Artist" event!  Additionally, the chosen design will be available for sale, with half of the profits from each sale going back to the Cedarburg High School Art Department for a needed laser engraver as well as other high-tech design/jewelry making equipment.

As we embark on this creative journey, I kindly invite you to join us in supporting the Facets Jewelry Design Competition in various ways:

Spread the word: We believe in the power of community, and your help in sharing information about the contest via social media, emails and any other form of communication would be invaluable. I will create posts that can be shared. You will find them on my Facebook page….Gallun Fine Jewelry…please don’t hesitate to share extensively!

Engage Actively: Your involvement can make a genuine impact. Ask friends, neighbors and work associates if they would like to support the Art Department and student with a purchase of a pendant. Mention the competition at meetings, clubs and any outside endeavor.

Embrace the Designs: As a symbol of your commitment, I invite you to explore the jewelry pieces drafted by our talented students and vote when voting begins. Please encourage others to vote as well. Purchase a pendant.  By purchasing and wearing the item and encouraging others to purchase the item as well you will be supporting the advancement of our local art education.

Join us in spreading the word of The "Love Has Many Facets" Jewelry Design Competition. Subscribe to get updates on the next competition near you.
